To Study in Australia for 3 months or more, you have to apply for a student visa. You can apply from any country you are living in.
EACH COUNTRY HAS ITS OWN RULES, SO PLEASE CONTACT YOUR NEAREST AUSTRALIAN EMBASSY OR GO TO THE AUSTRALIAN IMMIGRATION WEB SITE TO SEE MORE DETAILS ABOUT THIS. YOU MUST TELL THE ASA'S AGENT WHICH COUNTRY YOU ARE FROM, SO ASA CAN HELP YOU. THIS IS ONLY A GENERAL LIST FOR MOST COUNTRIES.
Check list of documents you need to provide:
For the most of Countries you will need to provide to the Australian Immigration Department:

1. Student Visa Form Application - 157 A ; fill it out to be sent with your other documents to the Australian Embassy in your Country;

2. Medical Exams in your country - compulsory for Student Visa application - see list here.

3. CoE - Confirmation of Enrolment, that you are going to receive from your ASA agent, after you have paid the Educational Institution your have chosen;

4. Print of the reservation of your Flight tickes (with return);

5. 3 (three) passport size photos 3x4 ou 5x7 - one for the application form 157 A and two for the medical exames (if you are required to do this-please check on the check list of your country);

6. Proof of your Overseas Student Health Cover (for the whole period of the visa);

7. Passport no more than 06 (six) months old and any other passport you have from a second citzenship (must be originals);

8. Financial reports (to prove you have enought funds to pay for your studies and the cost of living during your stay in Australia (at least AU$1,000.00 per month of permanency).

9. Personnal Letter explaining to the Australian Embassy in your country the reasons why you would like to study in Australia.

Important: The documents needed depend of each country!!!!


How should you apply:

1. First you need to choose the sub-class on which you are applying for your Student Visa, if it is for ELICOS program, or a Vocational and Technician course or it is Higher Education.
You can find this information here .

2. Then you have to select the country you are from.

3. Once you select the option you are wanting to study, click on Applying for this visa, and you are going to see the Document Check list you need to provide and the Fees & Charges you are going to pay for the Australian Embassy in your Country.

4. Click in How to Apply, you have 2 options:

1. On Line Application (using a migrant agent) or
2. Apply in Person on the Australian Embassy in your Country (using a migrant agent or not).
